This procedure establishes the minimum requirements for the safe use of Combustibles. Before using
any Chemicals make sure and review the MSDS sheets to recognize their flammability. Remember just
because the chemicals may not be flammable as a liquid does not mean it isn't
flammable as a vapor.
You must always instruct the customer whenever combustibles may be used.
Prevention is always easier than correction of problems created due to the inappropriate use of
combustibles.
Hot Work Requirements:
1. Customer Notification
2. Locate Fire Alarms and Evacuation Routes
3. Identify Combustibles in an appropriate manner, and container.
4. Move an appropriate Fire Extinguisher into your work area
5. Control any Combustibles in methods as defined on their MSDS
6. Use a Monitor as needed
7. Use your PPE
8. Prepare Work Space to ensure minimization of damage caused by sparks or direct
heat.
9. Use appropriate ventilation.
10. DO NOT use combustibles in areas where open flames or sparks are present.
Once the work is completed you must clean up any debris and or safety gear and make sure the site is
better than it may have been when you arrived.
If any problems are encountered you must notify EcoWater CHC management as well as the
customer.
