Appendix A: SimpliVity terminology
Definition
Alternate name for the SimpliVity Arbiter. (See SimpliVity Arbiter.)
A collection of SimpliVity OmniStack hosts that share resources and provide
high availability and load-balancing services.
A collection of SimpliVity OmniStack hosts that serve as potential high
availability failover targets for each other for purposes of high availability and
disaster recovery.
A collection of SimpliVity OmniStack hosts and clusters managed in a single
globally-unified management domain.
The operating system that runs inside a virtual machine.
A generic term referring to either an OmniStack host or a legacy host.
A host that does not contain OmniStack software.

A SimpliVity PCI card that provides non-volatile memory, accelerated
compression, and cryptographic hashing. The Accelerator card
communicates with the OmniStack software.
A host (server) containing an OmniStack Accelerator card that communicates
with the OmniStack software and some supported virtualization software. An
OmniStack host utilizes a dedicated virtual machine called the OmniStack
Virtual Controller, which runs the OmniStack software. (Previously referred to
as an OmniCube host.)
The SimpliVity software running on the OmniStack Virtual Controller.
