Remove a drive
Before you begin
You have completed the following tasks:
■ Obtained a replacement drive of the same type, speed, and capacity. You can also replace the drive
with a drive filler. The drive slot cannot remain empty.
■ Read the guidelines for maintaining disk drives.
■ Read the guidelines for protecting hardware from electrostatic discharge.
Procedure overview
Replace a failed, or failing, hard disk drive (HDD) or solid state drive (SSD) as soon as possible, using
only compatible drives supplied by SimpliVity.
Note:
If the server is in a Federation, using incompatible drives might cause your Federation to function
incorrectly. Also, performance might be degraded while a drive is defective or missing.
Procedure
1. Identify the failed drive.
2. Press the release latch (1) up to release the drive handle.
