Alternatively, you can use an RJ-45 patch cable to connect your laptop to the console serial port on
the rear panel, then use a terminal emulator to access and configure CIMC. See the Cisco product
information for instructions.
Procedure overview
You configure the network settings for the CIMC port, which you use to access the KVM Virtual Console
in a Web browser.
Procedure
1.
Plug the console cable adapter into the console connector on the left front panel of the server and
connect the keyboard, video monitor, and mouse (KVM).
2.
Power on the server using the main power button on the control panel. Watch the start up
messages displayed on the KVM and wait for a menu containing the following options: Press
<F2> to enter setup, <F6> Boot menu, <F8> CIMC Config, <F12> Network Boot

Press F8 to enter CIMC configuration, indicated by the following console message:
Entering CIMC Configuration Utility...

Wait several minutes for the console to print several Initializing... messages until the CIMC
Configuration Utility appears.
Use the up arrow and down arrow keys to move the underline cursor, and use the space bar to
insert or remove an X character, which enables or disables CIMC features.
