Recoil Starter
1.
Rotate choke controlto CHOKE IJl
position.
2.
Depressprimer.If it is 15°For higherpushprimertwo times, if
below15°Epushprimerfourtimes.
3.
Pushrockerswitchto ON position.
4.
Graspthe recoilstarterhandleandslowly pullthe ropeout. At
the pointwhereit becomesslightlyharderto pull the rope,slowly
allowthe ropeto recoil.
5.
Pull the starterhandlewith a firm, rapidstroke.Do not release
the handleand allowit to snap back.Keepa firm hold on the
starterhandleand allowit to slowlyrecoil.
6.
Allowthe engineto warmup severalminutes,adjustingchoke
towardRUNposition.Wait untilenginerunssmoothlybeforeeach
chokeadjustment.
STOPPING
THE
ENGINE
Runenginefor a few minutesbeforestoppingto help dry off any
moistureon the engine.
1.
PushtheOn / Off switchto the OFF position.
2.
Remove the ignitionkey and store in a safe place.
3.
Wipeall snowand moisturefrom the areaaroundthe engineas
wellas the area in and aroundthe wheeldrivecontroland auger
control.Also, engageand releasebothcontrolsseveraltimes.
TO ENGAGE
WHEEL
DRIVE
1.
Moveshift leverintoone of the six forward (F)positionsor two
reverse(R) positions.Selecta speedappropriatefor the snow
conditionsanda pace you'recomfortablewith.
NOTE: Whenselectinga Drive Speed,usethe slowerspeedsuntil
youare comfortableand familiarwith the operationof the snow
thrower.
REPLACING
SHEAR
PINS
The augersare securedto the spiralshaft with twoshear pinsand cot-
ter pins. If theauger shouldstrikea foreignobjector icejam, thesnow
throweris designedso that the shearpins mayshear.If the augerswill
notturn, checkto see if the pinshavesheared.See Figure12.
NEVERreplacethe augershearpinswith anythingotherthan OEM
Part No. 738-04155 replacementshearpins.Any damageto the
augergearboxor othercomponentsas a resultof failingto do so will
NOT be coveredbyyour snowthrower'swarranty.
Alwaysturnoff the snow thrower'sengineand removethe key priorto
replacingshearpins.

Squeezethe wheeldrivecontrolagainstthe handlethe snow
throwerwillmove.Releaseit and drivemotionwillstop.
NOTE: NEVERrepositionthe shift lever(changespeedsor direction
of travel)withoutfirst releasingthe wheeldrive controland bringing
the snowthrowerto a completestop. Doingso will result in premature
wearto the snowthrower'sdrivesystem.
TO ENGAGE
AUGERS
1.
Toengagethe augersand start throwingsnow,squeezethe
augercontrolagainstthe left handle.Release to stop the augers.
