Shaft
At leastonce a season,removethe shearpinson augershaft. Spray
lubricantinsideshaft, and aroundthe spacersand flangebearings
foundat eitherend of the shaft. See Figure18.
SHAVE PLATE AND SKiD SHOES
Theshave plateand skid shoes on the bottomof the snowthrowerare
subjectto wear.They shouldbe checkedperiodicallyand replaced
whennecessary.

NOTE:The skid shoes on this machinehavetwo wearedges.When
one sidewears out, theycan be rotated180 ° to usethe otheredge.
1.
Removethe six carriagebolts and hexnuts that securethe two
skid shoesto the sides of the augerhousing.Referto Figure19.
2.
Positionthe newskid shoes and securewith the carriagebolts
and hex nuts.Makecertainthe skid shoesare adjustedto be
level.

1.
Removethe hexnuts and carriagebolts that securethe shave
plateto the bottomof the housing.
2.
Removethe rear mosthexnut and carriageboltsecuringthe back
of eachskid shoeto the sides of the housing.Loosenthefour
remaininghexnuts securingthe skid shoes.
3.
Slide theshave plateout of the off-setslot at thebottomof the
housing,and from betweentheskid shoes and side panelsof the
housing.
4.
With the mountingholestowardthe backof the unit, slidethe new
shaveplateintopositionand securewith the fastenersremoved
previously.
ADJUSTMENTS
Shift
Rod
If the fullrange of speeds(forwardand reverse)cannotbe achieved,
referto Figure20 to the left and adjustthe shift rod as follows:
1.
Lookingunderneaththe handlepanel,notewhich of the three
holesin the shift leverthe ferruleis insertedinto.Also notethe
directionof insertion.Then removethe internalcotterpin and flat
washerfrom the ferruleand withdrawtheferrulefrom the shift
lever.See Figure20.
2.
Placeshift leverin sixth (6) positionor fastestforwardspeed.
3.
Pushshift rod and shiftarm assemblydownsharplyas far as it
willgo to put the driveintothe fastestforwardposition.
4.
As necessary,rotatethe ferruleup or downthe shift rod untilthe
ferrulelinesup with the hole fromwhich it was earlier removed.

5.
Fromthedirection notedearlier,inserttheferruleintotheproperhole.
6.
Reinstallthewasherand the internalcotterpin.
Chute
Control
Thedistancesnowis throwncan be adjustedby adjustingthe angleof
the chuteassembly.Referto the Operationsectionfor instructions.
Theremotechute controlcableshavebeen pre-adjusted at the factory.
