A. Rudder and Tab
1. Removal of Forward Rudder Cables (Figure 401)
(a) Remove pilot seat and floor panels under and in front of pressure bulkhead at Fuselage Station
(F.S.) 57.0.
(b) Rudder cable pulleys for forward system are located at F.S. 77.2 (in front of control column),
161.35, 212.96, 248.96, and 281.5. Remove left seats and floorboards in these areas, only
where necessary. Remove left side floor panels around F.S. 303.5 to make access to rudder
cable turnbuckles.
(c) Before disconnecting forward cables, block rear cables in front of bulkhead F.S. 310.0, keeping
cables tensioned and preventing slippage from pulleys and sector.
(d) Mark one cable and tumbuckle to facilitate installation and disconnect turnbuckles at F.S.
303.5.
(e) Remove cable guard pins from pulley clusters, disengage cable ends from forward control
sector, and remove top pulley at F.S. 77.2.
(f) Slowly and carefully pull cables from between F.S. 110.37 and F.S. 117.88 bulkheads.
2. Installation of Forward Rudder Cables (Figure 401)
(a) With floorboards, pulleys, and guide pins removed, install cable ball ends to forward sector
underneath rudder pedals. (Remove sector, if necessary.)
(b) Feed cables back through pulleys to F.S. 303.5.
(c) If aft cables are not installed, ensure cables are aligned on pulleys and sector, and put tension
on cables while blocking them aft of bulkhead F.S. 310.0.
(d) If aft cables are installed, attach cables to turnbuckles at F.S. 303.5.
(e) Rig rudder and set cable tension (refer to Figure 501). Ensure cables are aligned on pulleys
and sector.
3. Removal of Forward Rudder Control Sector
(a) Disengage control tubes from left pedal arms. Tape tubes to pressure bulkhead F.S. 57.0.
(b) Rotate pedals and tie them out of way.
(c) With floorboards under pedals removed, disconnect cables.
(d) Reach down through access hole in floor and disconnect control tubes on sector and tube,
disconnecting sector bellcrank from rudder pedal control bellcrank.
(e) Remove bolt retaining sector assembly to two mounts.
(f) Carefully remove assembly from under floor.
4. Installation of Forward Rudder Control Sector
(a) Install assembly from under floor.
(b) Install bolt retaining sector assembly to two mounts.
(c) Connect control tubes on sector and tube, connecting sector bellcrank to rudder pedal control
bellcrank, via access hole in floor.
(d) Connect cables to pedals and install floor boards.
(e) Remove pedal ties and place pedals into their proper position.
(f) Remove tape from tubes at pressure bulkhead F.S. 57.0. Engage control tubes from left pedal
arms.
