58. Bleeding the Hydraulic System.
(a) Jack airplane (refer to 7-10-00).
(b) Ensure reservoir is full.
(c) Connect hydraulic test unit to airplane.
(d) Cycle landing gear system through several cycles.
(e) Ensure hydraulic reservoir is full.
(f) Disconnect hydraulic test unit.
(g) Ensure landing gear selector handle is in down, neutral position, and landing gear is down and
locked.
(h) Remove airplane from jacks.
59. Removal and Installation of Hydraulic Lines
Remove damaged hydraulic line by disconnecting fittings at each end and disconnecting brackets
(Figure 3). Provide small container for draining line. Install new or replaced line by connecting
fittings at each end and connecting brackets. Refill power pack with hydraulic fluid.
NOTE: When using straight thread type fittings, locknuts must be tightened so O-ring seals are on
non-threaded portion of fitting.
60. Removal and Installation of Hydraulic Filters.
The hydraulic filters, located on lower right forward side of each engine firewall, are removed as
follows:
(a) Remove turtle back skin aft of cowlings to gain access to forward and aft sides of firewall.
(b) Disconnect filter inlet hose and outlet line from filter.
(c) Remove filter from firewall by holding bolts at aft side of firewall and removing nut at filter.
(d) The filter is installed in reverse order.
(e) After running engine, check for leaks.
61. Replacement of Filter Elements. (Figure 409)
(a) Remove turtle back skin aft of cowlings to gain access to forward and aft sides of firewall.
(b) Cut safety wire, unscrew bowl, and remove filter element.
(c) Clean filter bowl with suitable cleaning solvent and dry.
(d) Replace filter element and O-ring on bowl.
(e) Half fill filter bowl to minimize trapped air in hydraulic system and replace bowl.
(f) Safety filter bowl with safety wire (MS20995C20) and replace cowl.
(g) After running engine, check for leaks.
