Operating instructions

3.4.1

Protection against electrostatic discharges

DANGER
Risk of explosion!
The painted surface of the device can store electrostatic
charges. As a result, the housing can form an ignition source
due to electrostatic discharges in the following conditions:
— The device is operated in environments with a relative
humidity of ≤ 30 %.
— This painted surface of the device is therefore relatively
free from impurities such as dirt, dust or oil.
The instructions on avoiding the ignition of hazardous areas
due to electrostatic discharges in accordance with the
EN TR50404 and IEC 60079-32-1 standards must be
observed!
Instructions on cleaning
The painted surface of the device may be cleaned only using a
moist cloth.

Changing the type of protection

The device can be operated with various types of protection:
— When connecting to an intrinsically safe circuit in CL 1
Div. 1 or Zone 1, with type of protection "Intrinsic
Safety (IS)".
— When connecting to a non-intrinsically safe circuit in CL 1
Div. 1 or Zone 1, with type of protection "Explosion
proof (XP)".
— When connecting to a non-intrinsically safe circuit in CL 1
Div. 2 or Zone 2, with type of protection "Non-
Incendive (NI)".
Depending on the model, the device may be designed to be
installed in one of the applications listed. If you plan to use a
device that was installed for one Ex type of protection with a
different Ex type of protection, some measures must be taken
before connecting voltage to the device.
When changing the type of protection, chapter „" on page 15
must be adhered to.
Special information
Replacing components can affect the device's approval for
use in Class I, Div. 1 and Class I, Div. 2.
If the device was not operated with type of protection XP or
IS, but with type of protection NI, the device is only suitable
for use in Class I, Div. 2, Group A, B, C, D or in non-
hazardous areas.
