STEERING (SKIS) AND CHASSIS -
Skis, Chassis and Shroud, Seat, Luggage Box
The proper distance from center of the skis is shown
above. To obta in this measurement place a ruler as
shown in A above and adjust the relay rod as shown in
Fig. 5-4 .

5-3 CHASSIS AND SHROUD
Description - The chassis is o·f a monocoq ue design . It is a
si ngl e unit stamped steel frame . Checking the chassis for
corrosion and rust is very important to insure strengt h and
reli abil ity. If any corrosion or rust spots are found , the
area shou ld be sanded and painted with a rust p roof paint.
Any w eld ed and formed parts of the fram e should be
cl1ecked periodica ll y for cracking or breaking .
When t he machine is stored, the cl1assis should be coated
with a fi Im of o i I or I ight grease to prevent corrosion and
rust .
The shroud is painted fiberg lass and should require lit t le
mai nlenance. Checking for cra cking will insure it from
ser ious damage.
The windshield is clear PVC and shou ld require no
maintenance. When it is cleaned, you should attempt to
wash o ff any di rt of mud f irst and then wipe it off. This
will keep scratches to a minimum.
5-4 SEAT
The seat is a single unit of foam chips covered with vinyl .
If the machine is al lowed to sit outside for any period
of
time, the seat and backrest can be removed to prevent
w eathering by unsnapping the cover from the chassis.
5-5 LUGGAGE BOX
The luggage box in the engine room is made of a glassfiber
and secured with five pan head screws.
As ill ustrated , the longer screw is used for position marked
# 1,
while the shorter one is for
#2.
The luggage box should be used for storing spare oil, service
tools, ropes , etc. Avoid storing such
a
thing as to cause a
serious accident when the machine runs aga inst something.
