Prepare

Prepare will allow you to enter the practice mode just as in the prepare step for lateral canal impulses and
to instruct the patient.
Figure 4.5.4-1 Recording menu prepare option
You can use the following or a similar instruction:
"I will be moving your head up and down in an angular pattern. Keep your eyes focused on the target on
the wall the entire time. Please do not try to resist the head movements, as this will negatively impact the
test results. Simply keep your neck loose to allow me to make the small movements."

Direction/plane guide

This guide is shown to the right of the real-time data recording. You can also have the 3D head model
present optionally.
Figure 4.5.5-1 RALP Impulse Polar plot with impulse direction line shown in the red shaded area as an indication of
correct thrust angle. The head model shows the right anterior canal activated and the left posterior canal inhibited.
The guide is there to show you if you are performing the impulses in the correct plane for that protocol. A
line is plotted after each impulse that shows the angle measured for that thrust. Lines in the shaded area
are within tolerance for an acceptable impulse angle.
