Best practices for staying current on
firmware
The HPE D8000 Storage Enclosure will periodically require firmware updates to add features or fix issues.
Official firmware updates are provided to customers in the following formats:
• As a Smart Component
• On the HPE website
• In the most current Support Pack for ProLiant (SPP) .iso file
To provide the best performance from the entire solution, all D8000 customers are encouraged to regularly
download and use the most current SPP to update:
• The D8000
• Any hard drives in the enclosure
• The Smart Array initiators attached to the enclosure
• Other ProLiant device drivers or firmware
Firmware for the HPE D8000 enclosure can also be installed on the enclosure without running the SPP by
downloading and installing the latest D8000 Firmware Smart Component directly. Firmware Smart
Components for D8000 can be found on the HPE website at:
