Test

When TEST mode is selected, the Model 128/PC continuously scans all points of the cable
assembly, using the wire list program in Test Memory as a comparison. The wire list program
can be created using the Learn mode, or it can be loaded from Program Memory if previously
learned and saved. Refer to the Learn mode or the Load Program function in this section. A
complete Test procedure is provided below. Once familiarized, however, the user may refer to
Figure 6. To select and use TEST, proceed as follows:
1. Press RESET.
2.
Select and install a pair of adapter cards for the cable assembly to be tested.
3.
Mate each connector on the cable assembly to the appropriate adapter card.
4.
Press TEST. If the harness passes the test, "Passed" will display, and a tone will sound.
5.
Remove the passed cable, and connect next cable to be tested. Test will automatically
resume.
For subsequent harnesses of the same configuration, it is not
necessary to press TEST for each harness. Upon insertion of
each new harness, TEST automatically continues.
If an open, short, or miswire has been detected, an O (for Open) or an S (for Short or
Miswire) will display at the far left of the display, and the two point numbers (From
and To points) will display to the right of the error type as follows.
If a failure is between points on the same side of the adapter card, the display will
show:
4.
To continue the test, either correct the error, or press TEST. If an error was corrected,
and no other errors are detected, a Passed will display after all circuits have been
retested. If the error was not corrected, and TEST was pressed to resume testing, the test
scan will cycle through and back to the original error, unless another error is detected, in
which case that error will be displayed.
5.
If the printer is connected, press ERROR LIST to obtain a printout of failures.
A sample Error List Printout is shown in Figure 10.
6.
Remove harness and connect the next cable assembly to be tested.
