Fitness room – room automation
A weather station outside the building protects up to 8 façades from extreme solar radiation in the summer. This
function helps to keep the rooms cool. The weather station also protects the blinds from damage caused by strong
winds or other natural influences and controls them at dusk and according to temperatures to save heating energy
during winter nights. Finally, sun tracking control and shadow outline tracking allow a maximum of natural light to
enter the rooms, offering optimum working conditions.
Remote control
Integration of a webserver facilitates remote control and monitoring on a PC or smartphone via webbrowser.

description
Individual room temperature control
The room thermostat (RDU/RDG) acquires the tem-
perature and controls valve actuator STA23 of the
floor heating system. When the room calls for
heat/cooling energy, the room thermostat sends a
heat request to the heating controller and/or a request
for more warm/cold air to the VAV controller.
Indoor air quality control
The CO
forwards its signal to the ventilation controller which
controls the proportion of fresh air.
Demand-dependent supply air temperature
control
The primary ventilation controller (RMU) controls the
supply air temperature and the volumetric air flow
depending on the request for heat/cooling energy
from the room thermostat and the request for volu-
metric air flow from the VAV controller. The pressure
setpoints of the ventilation system are shifted depend-
ing on the room's demand for supply air.
Time program for every room
Time programs for up to 10 rooms or room groups
can be defined in the central control unit (RMB). A
time program sets the periods of time the room is not
used. During these time periods, the operating mode
is set to Economy, resulting in a lower temperature
setpoint. Hence, valuable heating energy can be
saved during the night and on days of rest. After that,
the setpoint is raised to the Precomfort level.
Presence-dependent heating control
When the presence detector signals room occupancy,
the room temperature is raised to the Comfort level.
Then, it is lowered again to the Precomfort level.

Constant light control
Constant light control maintains room lighting at a
constant brightness level by adding artificial light to
daylight. Brightness is automatically and continuously
adapted by dimming up/down the lighting groups.
Offset adjustments allow the configuration of constant
light control with only one presence detector. Manual
switching and dimming is made possible via the
pushbutton. In this case, lighting control is stopped
and the brightness level in the room is maintained as
long as presence is detected.
Presence-dependent lighting control
The presence detector (UP258E21) allows up to 4
lighting groups to be switched and controlled and
detects presence within its range. If persons are
detected, the lighting is switched on at the required
brightness level. When the persons leave the room,
the lighting is switched off again. To extend the moni-
tored range, a master-slave configuration can be
implemented.
Blinds control
The weather station (AP257/22) with its built-in GPS
receiver offers efficient control to protect the façade
against sunlight. Automatic and individual control of
up to 8 façades can be provided.
Sun tracking control and shadow outline tracking are
another 2 functions that ensure maximum usage of
daylight and minimum glare in the room. Sun tracking
control continuously adjusts the slats in a way that
their position is always at a right angle in relation to
the sun. Shadow outline tracking controls the position
of the blinds such that the edge of the shadow always
maintains the same distance to the window. This
optimizes daylight usage, thus reducing the amount of
energy required for the lighting.
