The temperature is acquired in every room and controlled via the supply air and the floor heating system. The
heat/cooling energy requests from all rooms are forwarded to the heating/refrigeration plant and the individual VAV
controllers. The ventilation controller controls the supply air temperature and the amount of air demanded by the
VAV controller. The heating plant is controlled depending on the heat request from the ventilation controller and
room thermostats plus the outside temperature. The refrigeration plant is controlled depending on the cooling ener-
gy request from the ventilation controller. Nonoccupancy times during the night can be set for every room in a time
program. During these periods of time, the room temperatures are automatically lowered. Open windows are auto-
matically detected and the temperature of these rooms is lowered to save heating energy. The room temperatures
are also slightly lowered during the day, if the guest is not present.
Lighting control
Presence detectors (hotel card switches) help save energy by automatically switching the lighting off when the room
is not occupied. A brightness sensor incorporated in the presence detector helps when switching and dimming
lights, ensuring that the room is always optimally illuminated, using as little as possible artificial light.
