Data transfer
Principle
The vehicle offers various services which require
data to be transferred to BMW or a service pro‐
vider. The transfer of data can be deactivated for
some services.
General
If data transfer has been deactivated for a serv‐
ice, then that service cannot be used.
Only perform settings with the vehicle at a stand‐
still.
Activating/deactivating
Follow the instructions on the Control Display.
Via iDrive:

5.
"Agree to all and activate"
All data protection-related services and func‐
tions are activated or deactivated.
Configuring data transfer
The data transfer can be configured separately
for individual services.

"Manual configuration"
6.
Select the desired setting.

Deleting personal data in the
vehicle
Principle
Depending on use, the vehicle stores personal
data such as saved radio stations. This personal
data can be permanently deleted using iDrive.
General
Depending on the equipment in your vehicle,
data such as the following can be deleted:
It can take up to 15 minutes in total to delete
data.
Operating requirements
Data can only be deleted with the vehicle at a
standstill.
Deleting data
Personal data in the vehicle is deleted when the
vehicle is reset to its factory settings.
Reset the vehicle to its factory settings, see
page 74.

Driver profile settings.
Saved radio stations.
Saved Favourites buttons.
Trip and on-board computer values.
Music hard disc.
Navigation, for example saved destinations.
Phone book.
Online data, for example Favourites, cookies.
Office data, for example voice memos.
Login accounts.
