Place seal squarely on housing (spring-loaded lip
toward gearbox). Select a seal driver, a piece of pipe or
tubing with an OD that will set on outside edge of seal
cage but will clear housing. A driver that is too small will
bow seal cage and ruin seal.
Carefully press seal into housing, preventing distortion
to metal seal cage.
Seat vertical seal firmly and squarely against machined
surface. With seal seated, place 1-5/8" ID x 2-3/4" OD
x 10 GA flinger washer and gearbox retainer washer
over vertical shaft. Press retainer washer in squarely,
until it seats firmly against and is 1/32" to 1/16" below
surface of housing.
Seat horizontal seal 1/32" to 1/16" below surface of
housing.
Distortion to seal cage or damage to seal lip will cause
seal to leak. Remove and replace seals damaged in
installation.
Attach horizontal gear and housing to gearbox housing
with four bolts. Replace all shims or gaskets removed
during disassembly.

BLADE TIMING (FIGURE 11)
Torsion bars are designed to yield and twist when
shock loads are encountered. When twisted torsion
bars are noted, do not replace them. Inspect blades
and crossbars and be sure they are not hitting. It will be
necessary to re-time crossbars and blades if torsion
bar twist had allowed them to exceed the acceptable
limits as shown in Figure 11.
Re-time crossbars by removing the nut and bolt locking
the torsion bar in gearbox or release the torsion bar
clamps (machines prior to SN4126). Slide torsion bar
out of gearbox and rotate crossbars until they are
approximately 90° apart as shown. Reinstall torsion bar
bolts or clamps (prior to SN4126) and tighten to
specifications in torque chart.
