    8-pole DIP switch the device can be set to the desired application. Time windows can be applied to let the gACC-499E/U login to the net at fixed intervals. After that there can be dialed-in by using a data collection system.

The hidden functions can be used by clicking on the icon in the left corner of the configuration program. The here shown functions can be executed both locally by using a config cable and also remotely via a modem.
  • Page 17 Set time At “Set time” the time of the connected PC can be written in the gACC-499E/U. It is important to check if the time of the PC is the correct time before this is written into the gACC-499E/U. For more clock settings see chapter 6..

The clock of the gAVC 1200 is read and when the UniWire is connected correctly it will reply with an Init OK.

In order to do this select “Start IEC” from the menu. The COM-port for the modem needs to be set, a phone number must be entered and a modem init string must be specified.
  • Page 21 Download time adjust data data When the gACC-499E/U is connected directly to an encoder or a pulse generator of a gas meter, intervals larger than 24 hours can be used. Because the clock deviation is approximately 1 second per day, a correction value over the used interval will be determined automatically after synchronizing the clock.

The performed correction is determined by the known correction of the same month, for the previous year. When this value is available yet (new installation), the correction of the last month is applied.

Battery Status The battery status can be read by performing “Get Battery Status:. In this window the start date of battery 1 (Group 1) and the start date of battery 2 (Group 2) will be displayed.
  • Page 24 2.14 Writing a configuration file The operation of the gACC-499E/U is determined by a configuration file. This configuration file will be written into the memory of the modem. For this the configuration program”gACC-499 configuration” is used. Procedure: Always read the existing configuration first by using the Read “1” button.

    Procedure for Encoder/gAVC 1200 application: If the gACC-499E/U is in sleep mode this must be awakened first.. In order to do this DIP switch 1 must be turned from ON to OFF. DIP switch 3 must be turned ON in order to follow the status by using the LED’s.

    SMS has to be sent within 72 hours of the start of call window. After clicking “Send update SMS…” a SMS window will open automatically. 2. The gACC-499E/U can be Reset by using the button “2” Reset. This has as consequence that the gACC is restarted and all internal data to be cached immediately.

    Reset To restart the gACC-499E/U a Reset can be performed. With the reset no data will be lost and the internal clock will not be affected. If the device has a continuous power supply the config file should always include a reset.

    SIM card requirements For the application of the gACC-499E/U it is necessary to use a SIM card on which at least GSM is enabled. To easily provide the device with updates it’s recommended to enable GPRS and SMS also. With a SMS an update can be triggered which retrieves the update file from a server, which is specified with an URL in the config file.

    Installation Installation location As associated apparatus the gACC-499E/U has to be installed outside the hazardous area. For wall mounting of the gACC-499E/U the mounting holes in the housing can be used. It’s also strictly prohibited to replace fuses. Defective units are to be destroyed in an environment friendly way, or to be returned to the manufacturer for repair.

    Setting time locally the gACC-499E/U is equipped with an internal clock (RTC) with a max. deviation of 5ppm per year. In consultation with the customer the choice can be made that the devices are delivered with the clock set to the correct time.

    Cache Reset In some cases it is necessary to reset the internal memory of the gACC-499E/U. When applying an encoder the internal memory is arranged as a data logger. A reset will erase the entire contents of the memory. When applying an gAVC 1200 the internal memory is used as a copy of the gAVC 1200 memory.
