REPLACEMENT
CHASSIS SHEET METAL
(450)
To remove extension, open front door and
remove bolts along lower edge and at front end,
then carefully lift up on extension to free it
from clamps at upper flange.
Before extension is installed make sure that
clamps are located between the bosses pressed
in door panel and that the clamps screws are
tight at lower ends of upper holes in clamps.
The clamp screws have shoulders to provide
proper tension on clamps when screws are tight.
To install extension, hook edge of extension
upper flange over ends of clamps and carefully
press extension down into place, then install
bolts at front end and along lower edge. Adjust
position of extension as required so that suffi-
cient clearance exists between extension and
fender to avoid metal-to-metal contact. Check
clearance with strip of fibre

lower brackets; move extension section rear-
ward and lift off. All interior attaching parts
are accessible through the opening at bottom
of section.
To install an extension front section, reverse
the procedure for removal. Tighten the front
and rear bolts before tightening the safety nuts
at upper bracket. Press inward on lower edge
of section as lower bolts are tightened. Install
the clamp at front upper corner with the long
end over flange of extension section. See fig-
ure 12-21.
The upper bracket on door has diagonal slots
for the studs on upper edge of extension so that
the top edge of extension is drawn in against
door panel as extension is moved into
position.
The bracket may be adjusted fore and aft to
secure a snug fit between extension and door
panel.
