    1.1 Topside Setup To setup the topside: 1. Set up your Sub-Bottom Profiler system laptop and 3100 topside unit at a secure place. 2. Connect the AC or DC power cable to a power source. 3. Connect the ETHERNET cable to the laptop and 3100 topside.

    2.0 ACTIVATION After making all connections, the system is ready to be turned on and the DISCOVER Software may be started. See the 3100 Software Manual for operation details. 2.1 Powering Up the Topside and DISCOVER Software 1. Flip the topside Power switch on, and turn on the laptop if it is not already on.

  • Page 11 6. Set the Pulse Power to 100% 7. Set Ping Rate to 6 Hz. 8. Confirm that the Trigger Mode is set to Internal. 9. Confirm that the Acquire Initial depth and Depth are set to 0 meters. 10. Click the N button on the top of the DISCOVER GUI to Normalize the display gain. 11.

    3.0 DEPLOYMENT Points to be considered for deployment of towfish:  The towfish must be kept away from the propeller to ensure the integrity of both the equipment and the data. In shallow water deployments, it may be better to deploy from the side of the boat. ...
