Both thc transmission and the
transfer ca6c are prccision built
units. No external adjustments arc
possible and should attention be
nccessary, it is advisable to consult
your 'Jeep' vehicle deale'.
PROPELLER SHAFTS
The drive f.om the bansfer cas€
to the froDt and rear axles is com-
pl€ted throush two prop€lle. shafts
each equipped with two uDiverssl
joints. The splined slip joints at
th€ traDsfer cas€ end of each shaft
allows for variations in distaDce
between the transfer case a'ld the
axles due to spring actioD.
Examine both propeller shafts
periodically
for
forcign
mafter
which may become wmpped around
thcm. Ch€ck for d€nts or a b€nt
shaft atrd make sure that the uni-
versal joint
attaching bolts are
tight at all tim€s.

that correct assembly is very sim
ple. No hand fitting

reinstalling,
note that the splines are to b€ as'

and rear of each shaft are pa.allel,

vibmtion.
