PRE-DIVE INSPECTION

The Pre-Dive Inspection shall be performed on the EBIS prior to each use by
the personnel to whom the unit is assigned. Pre-Dive Inspection procedures are
as follows:
WARNING:
shall be adhered to by all personnel utilizing the EBIS. Any discrepancies
shall be reported immediately to maintenance personnel.
1. Confirm the handwheel is closed and the system depressurized. Visually
inspect the entire system for any signs of damage or contamination.
2. Open the handwheel to pressurize the system, ensure the dial pressure
gauge reads in the "GREEN ZONE" (Fig. 26).
3. Briefly depress the purge button to ensure that sufficient airflow is provided
to clear the second stage of water. Put the second stage in your mouth and
slowly inhale, there must be enough air delivered for you to breathe easily
without noticeable resistance. Reinstall the second stage into the mouthpiece
cover when finished.
4. Briefly press the inflator button to make sure airflow is unobstructed and stops
completely when the button is released.
5. Refill the cylinder to its maximum capacity as marked when the Pre-Dive
Inspection is complete. Verify the dial pressure gauge reads within the "GREEN
ZONE" after it has been filled.
