BATTERY RECHARGING
GETTING TO
KNOW YOUR
IMPORTANT The battery recharging procedure is
CAR
given as information only. You are advised to contact
a Fiat Dealership to have this operation performed.
Charging should be slow at a low ampere rating
SAFETY
for approximately 24 hours. Charging for a longer
time may damage the battery.
Charge the battery as follows:
STARTING AND
❒ disconnect the negative battery terminal;
DRIVING
❒ connect the charger cables to the battery
terminals, observing the polarity;
WARNING
❒ turn on the charger;
LIGHTS AND
MESSAGES
❒ when finished, turn the charger off before
disconnecting the battery;
❒ reconnect the negative battery terminal.
IN AN
EMERGENCY
Battery fluid is poisonous and corrosive:
SERVICING AND
avoid contact with your skin and eyes.
MAINTENANCE
The battery should be charged in a well
ventilated place, away from naked flames or
possible sources of sparks: danger of explosion

Do not attempt to charge a frozen
battery: it must be thawed first,
otherwise it may explode. If the battery was
frozen, have it inspected by specialised
personnel before recharging to check that the
internal elements are not damaged and that the
casing is not cracked, which could cause
poisonous, corrosive acid to leak.
