Installing an Embedded IDE
(Flash) Drive

The 1747-OCE and 1747-OCF open controllers ship without system memory. You
must install industry-standard memory (see figure below) before you can use your
open controller. Refer to "Approved System and Flash Memory Products" on
page A-4 for information on selecting system memory for you open controller.

Installing system memory in the open controller
Depending on your open controller model, you can install a FlashDrive,
CompactFlash card, or microdrive (see figures below) as an embedded IDE
drive onboard the open controller CPU module. You must install your
embedded IDE drive before inserting the open controller module in a
chassis. Refer to "Approved System and Flash Memory Products" on
page A-4 for information on selecting an embedded IDE (Flash) drive for
your open controller.

1747-OCE

You can install one FlashDrive onboard the 1747-OCE open controller CPU
module.
What you need:
• small flat-head screwdriver
• FlashDrive screws (M1.0 x 0.6, 4 mm, slotted, cheese-head) that came
with the open controller CPU
• ribbon cable that came with the open controller CPU
1. Position the DRAM / SDRAM
on the CPU
2. Snap the DRAM / SDRAM
tightly into place
