20.4 Sample Insertion

For sample preparation see
The tweezers supplied with the equipment should be used to pick up and move the crucible
containing the sample to be measured. It can then be carefully placed it into the furnace, as
shown in Figure 31.
Once the crucible has been placed, the thermal plug should then be inserted on top prior to
heating. Figure 32 shows a photograph of what how it should look prior to heating.

20.5. High Temperature Measurements

Before taking measurements the manual selection switch on the MS2WF should be set to S or
T. The S thermocouple is the standard thermocouple, used in high temperature measurements.
The switch is shown in Figure 33.
The power supplied to the furnace is controlled using the two toggle switches and the 10-turn
dial on the MS2WFP controller. See Figure 34.
