1.3 A Brief Introduction to the IPMI

The Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) Specification provides remote
access to multiple users from different locations for networking. It also allows a system
administrator  to monitor system health and manage computer  events from a remote
location.
IPMI  operates  independently  of  the  operating  system.  With the WPCM450 Controller
and the IPMI  software  built in, the  motherboard  allows an administrator to access,
monitor,  diagnose  and manage  a computer  system  from a remote  site. It also provides
remote access to multiple users from different locations for system maintenance  and
network management.
