TROUBLE SHOOTING AND RECTIFICATION

Functional fault
Insuffi cient material
output
Poor spray pattern
Valve rod leaks (paint
path or air path)
Spray gun will not shut-
off correctly

Material pressure too

Gun fi lter or high
pressure fi lter clogged at
pump
Nozzle is clogged
The valve rod path is too
short.
Wrongly adjusted
atomizing air
The nozzle is too large.
Material pressure too
low
The material viscosity is
too high.
The nozzle is partially
clogged.
The drilled holes in the
air cap are damaged or
clogged.
Incorrectly selected air
cap
The seals on the valve
rod or the valve rod is
damaged.
Air valve seals are leaky.
Pretension is too low.
The valve seat or the
valve ball is damaged.
Pretension of the seals is
too strong.

Remedy
Select larger nozzle.
Increase material pressure.
Clean or replace fi lter.
Nozzle cleaning
Replace the valve rod.
Readjust the atomizing air.
Select a smaller nozzle.
Increase the material pressure at
pump.
Thin material in accordance with
the manufacturer's instructions.
Nozzle cleaning
Clean or replace the air cap.
Insert the correct air cap (solvent
/water based paint).
Replace the entire valve rod or
the individual seals.
Replace the air valve seal.
Tighten up the sealing screw.
Replace the parts.
Replace the seals.
