N ot e: If the box is rem oved for installation purposes, the
m otor term inals M UST be protected against
im pact or stress dam age. Field fabrication of a
cover or guard is required.
• The m otor term inal box is large enough to
accom m odate the use of stress cones.
• If conduit is applied, a flexible connection of the
conduit to the box should be m ade to allow for unit
serviceability and for vibration isolation. The cable
should be supported or protected against abrasion and
w ear on any edges or surfaces. Cable or conduit
openings can be cut at any location in the box sides,
top, or bottom for cable entry. Always ensure that
debris does not rem ain in the box after cutting cable
entry holes.

w iring poses FIRE and ELECTROCUTION hazards. To
avoid these hazards, you M UST follow requirements for
field w iring installation and grounding as described in
NEC and your local/ state/ national electrical codes.

• Before servicing, disconnect all pow er sources and
allow at least 30 m inutes for capacitors to discharge.
• All electrical enclosures—unit or rem ote—are IP2X.
M otor circuit w ire sizing by the installer m ust be m ade in
accordance w ith the National Electric Code or any other
applicable codes.
Three term inals are provided on the chiller for the
connection of pow er to the m otor from the starter. Pow er
leads to m otors m ust be in m ultiples of three, w ith equal
phase representation in all conduits or w ire trays. To lim it
the effects of corona or ionization w ith cables carrying
m ore than 2000V, Trane requires that the pow er cable have
a m etallic shield, unless the cable is specifically listed or
