Unit Isolation

To m inim ize sound and vibration transm ission through the
building structure, and to ensure proper w eight
distribution over the m ounting surface, always install
isolation pads or spring isolators under the chiller feet.
N ot e: Isolation pads (see
chiller unless spring isolators are specified on the
sales order.
Specific isolator loading data is provided in the unit
subm ittal package. If necessary, contact your local Trane
sales office for further inform ation.
Im port ant : When determ ining placem ent of isolation
pads or spring isolators, rem em ber that the
control panel side of the unit is always
designated as the unit front.

Isolation Pads

When the unit is ready for final placem ent, position
isolation pads (457.2-m m sides) end for end under the full
length of the chiller leg. The pads m easure 228.6 m m x
457.2 m m (9 in. × 18 in.) and on som e units there m ay be
sm all gaps betw een pads. Pads are provided to cover
entire foot.

Rem em ber that the chiller m ust be level w ithin 1.6 m m
(1/16 in.) over its length and w idth after it is low ered onto
the isolation pads. In addition, all piping connected to the
chiller m ust be properly isolated and supported so that it
does not place any stress on the unit.

Spring Isolators

Spring isolators should be considered w henever chiller
installation is planned for an upper story location. Base
isolator placem ent is show n in
