Custom ers are responsible for all field w iring w ith
respect to EM C and EM I interference. Custom ers are
responsible to m itigate the risks associated w ith EM C
and EM I interference that can occur as a result of
custom er-provided field w iring as dictated by
international, national, and local codes. This also
im plies that for rem ote-m ounted starters and drives,
custom ers are responsible for the entire field w iring
into the starter/drive as w ell as betw een the starter/
drive and the chiller/com pressor term inals w ith
respect to EM C and EM I interference. It also im plies
that custom ers are responsible for incom ing pow er
w iring to both the starter/drive and CPTR option
enclosure unit-m ounted panel w ith respect to EM C
and EM I interference.
All custom er w iring, including pow er w iring to starters/
drives/CPTR Option/UPS shore pow er, needs to be
separated: 24–27 Vdc, 110–120 Vac, and 380–600 Vac each
need to be in separate conduit runs.
For 110/120V custom er w iring, including pow er supply to
CPTR option, it is required that the custom er provides
som e sort of surge protection and all custom er w iring
needs to be run in flexible m etal conduit and grounded at
both ends.
For rem ote starters interfacing w ith the Trane chiller, all
w iring needs to be run in flexible m etal conduit and
grounded at both ends. Any ethernet cables being used by
custom er to interface w ith the Trane chiller m ust be
shielded ethernet cabling.
The custom er is required to provide an overcurrent
protective device upstream of all starters and drives in
accordance w ith IEC standards and/or any applicable local
and national codes.
Service personnel m ust use proper PPE for servicing and
should also use proper lockout/tagout procedures during
servicing: lock the starter disconnect handle before
servicing to prevent accidental pulling of disconnect
handle at the starter panel. In addition, service personnel
should first disconnect the m ain supply disconnecting
device upstream of the starter or drive before perform ing
any service on any part of the chiller.

WARNING
Lockout/ Tagout Before Removing Touch-
Safe Covers!
Failure to follow instructions regarding touch-safe
covers could result in death or serious injury. Touch-safe
covers inside panels are there for protection and may
be removed if necessary for service only and only after
disconnection of main power supply. Before removing
any touch-safe cover, ensure that there is no line power
first. Removal of touch-safe covers would be at the
customer/ service personnel's ow n risk. After any
service is completed, if the touch-safe covers have been
removed, the touch-safe covers need to be put back in
to ensure safety and protection.
N ot e: Graphic labels (show n above) are used for CE
application only.
Im port ant :
Before servicing, disconnect all pow er sources and
allow at least 30 m inutes for capacitors to discharge.
All electrical enclosures—unit or rem ote—are IP2X.
For CE units, the convenience outlet in the control panel
requires a suitable adaptor to m eet the needs of custom ers
w ith different plug requirem ents.
