Troubleshooting Tips

The table provides a list of problems, the possible cause, and a recommended solution.
If you experience a problem during the installation process, refer to the
problem-solving table.
If you installed the Smart Card solution successfully, but you now experience problems, refer to
Installation.

During Installation

Problem
The card reader is installed but no
message appears on the User Inter-
face.

After Installation

Problem
The login was successful, however
you do not have the appropriate ac-
cess to the operation you requested.

Possible Cause
The card reader is faulty.
The card reader connection is faulty.
The card reader is not compatible.
Smart Card access is not enabled on
the device.
Possible Cause
LDAP is not configured properly or
the local user permission roles are
not configured properly.
During Installation
Solution
• Try a different card reader.
• Contact the System Administrat-
or.
• Check that the cable is plugged
in correctly. Refer to
USB Smart Card Reader to the
MFD
for instructions.
• Unplug the card reader cable,
then plug it back in.
• Plug the card reader into a differ-
ent USB port.
Check that the card reader is on the
list of compatible devices, refer to
Supported Card
Readers.
Use Internet Services to enable
Smart Card through the Properties
setup screens. Refer to
Configuration.
Solution
Check the authorization method.
