7. Remove the cylinder head 0 and gasket

NOTE:
Insert a flat-head screw driver between the
pry tabs to pry off the cylinder head.

Do not scratch or damage the mating sur-
faces of the cylinder head and cylinder
block.

Checking the cylinder head

1. Clean the carbon deposits from the com-
bustion chambers. Check the cylinder
head cover and cylinder head. Replace
the cylinder head cover or cylinder head
if cracked or corroded.
NOTE:
To check the cylinder block anode, refer to
page 3-19.

2. Check the cylinder head warpage using a
straightedge 1 and thickness gauge 2
in directions as shown. Replace the cylin-
der head if above specification.
Cylinder head warpage limit:
0.1 mm (0.0039 in)

Removing the exhaust cover

1. Remove the exhaust cover bolts in the
sequence shown.
