Some maintenance tasks require extraction of
the generator from its hood. Once the drain hose,
fuel feed hose and electrical connections have
been detached, remove the two screws at the
bottom of the sides (fig. 40 ref. 1) and remove the
generator.

9.3.3 Air filter maintenance

A clogged air filter will reduce air flow
to the engine. To prevent engine malfunction,
check the air filter regularly.
Never operate the generator without an air fil-
ter as the engine would be damaged very
quickly.
Never use petrol or solvents with a low
evaporation point to clean the air filter car-
tridge.
The filter cartridge is enclosed in the sheet metal
housing (fig. 41 ref. 1). Open the lid (fig. 41 ref. 4)
by releasing the clips (fig. 41 ref. 2). Remove the
filtration element (fig. 41 ref. 3), remove the thin
layer of spongy filtration material, if very dirty
wash with water and neutral detergent. Lightly
tap the cartridge on a hard surface to remove
traces of dust or blow the filter clean inside out
with compressed air.

Lightly tap the cartridge on a hard surface to re-
move any excess dust or blow the filter clean in-
side out with compressed air (fig. 42). Never
brush the filter cartridge, as this would push dust
in between the fibres. If excessively dirty, replace
the filter cartridge.
Lastly, refit the layer of spongy material on the fil-
tration element, then reposition the filter in the fil-
ter box (fig. 41 ref. 1).
