Boom Components
4 Use a soft metal drift to remove the pivot pin.
5 Remove the fasteners securing the lift cylinder
rod-end pivot pin to the boom.
6 Use a soft metal drift to remove the pivot pin.
Crushing hazard. The boom will
fall if not properly supported
when the pivot pin is removed
from the machine.
7 Using the overhead crane, raise the boom to a
horizontal position. Remove the cylinder from
the machine.

How to Remove the Extension
Cylinder
Note: When removing a hose assembly or fitting,
the O-ring (if equipped) on the fitting and/or hose
end must be replaced. All connections must be
torqued to specification during installation. Refer to
Specifications, Hydraulic Hose and Fitting Torque
Specifications.
1 Raise the boom to a horizontal position.
2 Remove the access covers on the number 1
boom.
3 Tag, disconnect and plug the hydraulic hoses
at the boom extension cylinder. Cap the
fittings.
4 Remove the hose sheave covers.
5 Remove the extend cylinder retaining clips
from the #1 and #2 booms.

Bodily injury hazard. Spraying
hydraulic oil can penetrate and
burn skin. Loosen hydraulic
connections very slowly to allow
the oil pressure to dissipate
gradually. Do not allow oil to
squirt or spray.
Component damage hazard.
Hoses can be damaged if they
are kinked or pinched.
