1. OPERATION
Important considerations when using the bottom discrimination display
• The bottom discrimination display provides an estimate of seabed composition. Ac-
tual composition may be different.
• Operating environment:
- Depth: 5 to 100 m (16 to 328 ft)
- Speed: 10 kn or less
• This feature uses the range from the ship's draft; therefore, enter the ship's draft
(see section 4.7.5).
• Be sure that the transducer is mounted straight. Otherwise the bottom discrimina-
tion display may not function accurately.
How to activate/deactivate the bottom discrimination display
Note: Range and shift functions for the external fish finder are disabled when bottom
discrimination is active.
1. Place the cursor inside the external fish finder screen, then right-click. The [Exter-
nal Fish Finder] menu appears.
2. Select [Display]. The Display setting appear in the right-side of the window.
3. Select the [Bottom Discrimination] setting.
4. Select the drop-down box to the far right-hand side of the menu, then select the
appropriate display format. Select [Off] to deactivate this function.
5. Select the [Bottom Discrimination Legend] setting.
6. Select [On] to show the legend, select [Off] to hide the legend.
7. Select [Apply] to apply the changes and delete or edit a different mode. Select
[OK] to apply the changes and close the menu. Select [Cancel] to cancel any
changes made and close the menu.
