Replacing the optical drive
Attention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the Chapter
1 "Read this first: Important safety information" on page 1.
To replace the optical drive, do the following:
1. Remove any media from the drives and turn off all connected devices and the computer. Then,
disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the
computer.
2. Remove the frame stand. See "Replacing the frame stand" on page 87.
3. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page 89.
4. Locate the optical drive. See "Replacing the optical drive" on page 92.
5. Remove the screw that secures the optical drive to the chassis. Then, slide the optical drive as shown to
remove it from the chassis.

6. Remove the two screws that secure the optical drive bracket to the optical drive.
