Section 3: Sanitization Procedure for K5 Air Charge Install - Chlorine
Dioxide
Note: The following steps should be taken immediately after installation; no water should be in the unit.
Safety glasses
1. Attach anti-spray line
The faucet should be closed.
4. Install cartridge plugs in all
locations, except prefilter
Install 4 plugs in these locations.
(RO, Auxiliary 1, Auxiliary 2, Post
8. Close feed / close tank

and rubber/latex gloves must be worn during sanitization.

5. Add cleaning agent.
Pour one package of cleaning agent
into dry cartridge plug – install plug into
cartridge prefilter position.
Cleaning Agent: Chlorine dioxide tablet
(crush tablet while still in packet) or granules
9. Slowly crack open faucet
to depressurize the
system.
WARNING: Do
not open faucet all
the way. Air, water
and chemical
solution will spray
out forcefully. Be
prepared to
control the
anti–spray line.
Drinking Water Systems
The tank valve should
be open.
Note: You may hear a
buzzing sound from
prefilter position
the unit. This is normal
for start-up. Check for
leaks.
10. Allow system to

closed and the standard
tank spacer (gray) is
installed in the RO shutoff
position
Note: Do not over tighten.

6. Slowly open feed valve.
7. Wait 4 minutes
depressurize – leave faucet
open.
