Approved lamp types;
Philips Mastercolour CDM-T lamp 150W 830 (3000K) or 942 (4000K) or 70W 830 (3000K) or 70W 942 (4000K)
The Philips 70W or 150W CDM-T 830 (3000K) or 942 (4000K) lamp has a manufacturer's rated life of 9000 hrs.
This is a manufacturer's rated life and is not a guaranteed life in real service. In practice it has been found that under
reasonable service conditions that this life expectancy is common. It has been noted that there may be a degradation
in light output over the life of the lamp, which can become noticeable after 6000 hrs. We do not currently recommend
the use of any other manufacturer's lamp.
It is important to replace any lamp that fails to ignite or begins to cycle (switching on and off continually). Although
the ballast (if using the recommended type) will have a thermal cut-off and timed ignitor to protect against damage,
the life of the ignitor may be reduced.
We recommend a planned annual maintenance and lamp change. This should avoid the need for occasional lamp
changes. In addition, you should assess the risk of accidental and deliberate damage, and the conditions under which
these fixtures are used, and plan additional maintenance as this risk assessment requires. It is often a statutory
requirement to keep a written record of your risk assessment and the measures employed.
The Philips CDM ceramic metal halide lamp has excellent colour rendering for a metal halide lamp. The lamp will
reach its optimum output and stability after 100 hrs use. Before this time there may be a variation in colour
temperature and output. These phenomena may also occur when the position of the fixture is changed.
These effects are more noticeable with the 3000K 830 lamp types.
For installation of the lamp, please see the section Installing the Lamp above

Routine maintenance should include cleaning the lenses with a dry lint free cloth, examination for any physical
damage, checking the tightness of the mountings, checking electrical connections.
The lamp should be replaced within its rated life of 9000hrs or when the light output begins to fall, or when the lamp
regularly fails to ignite within 30s of power-on.
WARNING: The Source Four CDM is rated to IP20 and therefore should only be used in an internal dry environment.
Routine maintenance procedures and intervals should be assessed on an individual basis based on the location, usage
and potential risks. This procedure should be documented as part of your site risk assessment.
