Basic Operation

Switching to the DEC OSF/1 and OpenVMS (SRM) Console

To switch from the Windows NT (ARC) console to the DEC OSF/1 and OpenVMS (SRM)
console, perform these steps:
1. From the ARC Boot menu, select the Supplementary menu.
2. From the Supplementary menu, select "Set up the system."
3. From the Setup menu, select "Switch to OpenVMS or OSF console." This allows
you to select your operating system console.
4. Select your operating system, then press Enter on the Setup menu.
5. When the system displays the message, "Power-cycle the system to implement the
change," press the Reset button.
These steps load the firmware. Once the DEC OSF/1 or OpenVMS firmware is loaded and
the system is initialized, the system displays the SRM console prompt (>>>).

Switching to the Windows NT (ARC) Console

To switch from the DEC OSF/1 or OpenVMS (SRM) console to the Windows NT (ARC)
console, type the following command at the console prompt:
>>> arc
This command loads the firmware. Once the Windows NT firmware loads and the system
initializes, the system displays the Windows NT Boot menu.

Windows NT (ARC) Console Menus

The Windows NT (ARC) console has three primary menus: the Boot menu, the
Supplementary menu, and the Setup menu.
