- Page 2 INSTALLATION AND SETUP Physical Installation Install the XVS-F5 in a stable/safe place to avoid any possible damage. Avoid placement in direct sunlight and do not place heavy articles on the switch. Mounting The XVS-F5 may be placed horizontally on a solid, level platform or wall-mounted using the keyhole mounts in the rear panel.
- Page 3 Connecting Power Connect the included AC power adapter to a power outlet near the XVS-F5, then connect the power adapter plug to the switch power connector. XVS-F5 Side Panel View with Power Connector CAUTION: Use only the included power supply. If a different power supply is used, it could damage the XVS-F5.
- Page 4 Connecting Ethernet Connecting Devices Use standard Ethernet CAT5, CAT5e or CAT6 cable to connect the XVS-F5 to a device as described below. The XVS-F5 will automatically adjust to the characteristics (speed/duplex) of the device to which it is connected. Connecting the XVS-F5 to Devices When a device is properly connected, the Link/Activity LED for the port lights up green.
- Page 5 Connecting to a Router or Other Switch Use an Ethernet cable to connect the XVS-F5 to a router or other switch. The XVS-F5 automatically adjusts to the speed and duplex of the connected switch or router, so uplink cables are not necessary.
