6.1 Cleaning

After each procedure, clean the exterior of the
CONMED 1000 SES with an appropriate germi-
cide. Avoid the use of abrasive cleaners.
Also clean the inlet port of the filter with an
appropriate germicide after each procedure and
recap the filter inlet port.
Replace vacuum hose and all single use disposable
parts after each procedure. Dispose of in the
appropriate manner per your hospital's proce-
dures.
Replace the CONMED 1000 SES filter after
eight hours of use. Failure to change the filter will
affect the performance of the system.

6.2 Periodic Performance Testing

The CONMED 1000 SES Smoke Evacuation
System is engineered to give the end user many
years of trouble-free service. In order to maintain
the system in top operating condition, the system
should be inspected using the following schedule:
After Each Use
• Inspect the system for signs of physical damage,
and fluid or solid contamination.
• Inspect the filter for physical damage, fluid or
solid contamination, and filter life. If filter life has
been expended, replace the filter.
Weekly Inspection
Check the "Service" light on the membrane key-
pad. If the light is illuminated, contact BioMed or
CONMED for service.
Examine the entire system for physical damage.
Contact BioMed or CONMED for service if
damaged.

Yearly Inspections
Perform the chassis ground integrity test per
Section 6.3. Check the "Service" light on the
membrane keypad. If the light is illuminated, con-
tact BioMed or CONMED for service.

6.3 Chassis Ground Integrity

Equipment:
Volt-Ohmmeter, Simpson 260 or equivalent.
Procedure:
Connect the ohmmeter between the earth ground
prong of the power plug and the exposed screw
heads on the bottom of the unit. Confirm that
the resistance is less than 0.2 ohm.

6.4 Calibration

The CONMED 1000 SES Smoke Evacuation
System is completely adjusted at the time of man-
ufacture. No additional adjustment to the system
is necessary.
There is no need to calibrate any part of the
CONMED 1000 SES Smoke Evacuation System.
All calibration is preset at the factory.
If the Service light is illuminated at any time,
contact BioMed or CONMED for service.

6.5 Troubleshooting

This section provides help in troubleshooting
problems if the CONMED 1000 SES is malfunc-
tioning. Not all failures can be covered in a guide
such as this, so the service technician must under-
stand the full operation of the unit. Read Sections
1.0 and 2.0 for the description of the system and
operating instructions.
If trouble is suspected, perform a thorough visual
inspection, looking for loose or burned compo-
