7 GDU 45X (DISPLAY UNIT) INSTALLATION

This section contains general information as well as installation information for the GDU 45X. Use this
section to mount the GDU 45X unit(s). If upgrading from a GDU 37X to a GDU 45X display, refer to
upgrade instructions in Section 36.2.1.5
calibration information.

7.1 Equipment Description

NOTE
There is no TSO/ETSO applicable to the GDU 45X.
NOTE
Unless a GPS 20A is used for GPS position, a minimum of one GPS antenna is required
for installations using more than one GDU 4XX unit, as the GDU 4XX will "share" the
GPS information with all GDU 45X units. Additional GPS antennas may be used for
redundancy, but are not required.
NOTE
Make sure that no dust or grit accumulates at the bottom of the display glass. The GDU
45X display uses invisible infrared beams for touch detection, this makes it very important
to keep the screen clean, especially along the edges.

The GDU 45X is not suitable for installation in a type-certificated aircraft.
The GDU 45X is mounted flush to the aircraft instrument panel using four #6 screws. The GDU 45X is
available in two models, GDU 450 and GDU 455. The GDU 450 is a Garmin Display Unit with a GPS
