Fault Finding

Problem
Validator will not take notes:
Validator runs slowly or
intermittently:
Notes
pass
through
validator but do not give a
vend signal
Validator may be taught
notes but will then not accept
any note.
Unit rejects genuine notes
Validator
is
difficult
teach.
Check:
Is the Bezel Illuminated?
Is the jumper cable connected from
the top to the bottom of the
validator?
Is the Teach/Run switch in Run?
Make sure there are no foreign
objects in the note path
Check voltage level of supply
Check for damage
Ensure there is no grease on tyres

Is the unit in TEACH mode? - check
the Teach/Run switch
Is
the
power
specification.
Is the rear flag stuck up.
Check that +VCOM is connected to
your interface supply voltage (+5v to
+12v)
Have sufficient notes been used to
teach the NV4?
Check that the relevant inhibits are
disabled ( to enable a channel). The
inhibit pin should be held logic low
(0v).
Check that ESCROW is off.
Check that the unit has been taught
this face.
Check the channel security setting
to
Check all teach notes are in the same
orientation.
Check teach notes are not badly
damaged or heavily stained
Solution

Slide Teach switch to RUN
Clean the note path
Ensure correct supply and
sufficient current.
Replace Path components
Replace tyres
Make sure the validator is in
run mode.
