Mixing video game sound
with other sound source

— Game Mixing

You can mix the sound from the component
connected to the GAME INPUT jacks with
another function.

Select the source sound you want.

Press GAME MIXING on the unit
repeatedly.
Each time you press the button, the level of
the game sound changes cyclically as
follows:
MIXING LOW t MIXING MID t
MIXING HIGH t MIXING OFF
Notes
• Game Mixing is canceled when you press REC
PAUSE/START on the unit.
• Game Mixing does not function during CD Synchro
Recording.
• During Game Mixing, when "TAPE A" or "TAPE
B" function is selected, you will not hear any sound
output from GAME INPUT if you use the AMS
function.
• When Game Mixing is activated, this system outputs
the video signal from GAME INPUT VIDEO jack
through the VIDEO OUT jack only.
• When Game Mixing is activated, you cannot view
game images while an S video cord is connected. To
view game images, disconnect the S video cord and
connect the unit and your TV using only the supplied
video cord.
• When Game Mixing is activated, the sound field is
changed to LINK if the current sound field is
SBS MULTI, A.F.D. AUTO, PRO LOGIC, PLII
MOVIE or PLII MUSIC. The sound field is changed
to HP 2CH if the current sound field is HP
VIRTUAL.
Tips
• To record the mixed sound, press GAME MIXING
on the unit after step 4 and before step 6 of
"Recording on a tape manually" (page 48).
• The GAME MIXING indicator lights up in the
display when Game Mixing is activated. Game
Mixing will remain active while the system is on
even if the function is changed.

Singing along: Karaoke

You can sing along with any multiplex VIDEO
CD or audio CD. You can also output either the
left or right channel sound from both speakers
while playing a multiplex CD or VIDEO CD.
Note that this results in monaural sound. For
example, when playing a Karaoke VIDEO CD
(disc with the vocals on one channel and the
instruments on the other channel), you can select
to listen only to the instruments from both
speakers. You need to connect an optional
microphone.
Use the buttons on the unit for the operation.

Turn MIC LEVEL to "MIN" to turn down
the microphone volume.

Connect an optional microphone to the
MIC 1 or MIC 2 jack.

Press FUNCTION repeatedly until
"DVD" appears in the display.

Press KARAOKE/MPX on the remote
repeatedly.
Each time you press the button, the display
changes cyclically as follows:
KARAOKE PON t MPX L* t MPX R*
t KARAOKE OFF
To sing karaoke by decreasing the vocal
level of the music source, select
"KARAOKE PON".
To sing karaoke of multiplex VIDEO CD or
audio CD, select "MPX L" or "MPX R".
"m" lights up in the display when karaoke
mode is activated.
* You cannot select "MPX L" and
"MPX R" during DVD playback.

Start playing the music and adjust the
volume.

Start singing along with the music and
adjust the microphone volume by
turning MIC LEVEL.
