The sound from the component connected to
the VIDEO/SAT IN jacks is distorted.
• If "VIDEO" appears in the display when you press
FUNCTION +/– (or FUNCTION on the unit)
repeatedly, switch to "SAT" function (see
"Listening to a connected satellite tuner" on
page 68).
The timer cannot be set.
• Set the clock again (page 12).
The timer does not function.
• Check the timer setting and set the time correctly
(pages 57 – 58).
• Cancel the Sleep Timer (page 57).
• You cannot select the Play Timer and Timer
Recording at the same time.
The remote does not function.
• Remove the obstacles between the remote and the
unit.
• Move the remote closer to the unit.
• Point the remote at the unit's sensor.
• Replace the batteries (R6/size AA).
• Locate the unit away from the fluorescent light.
There is acoustic feedback.
• Reduce the volume.
• Move the microphones away from the speakers or
change the direction of the microphones.
The color irregularity on a TV screen persists.
• Turn off the TV set at once, then turn it on after 15
to 30 minutes. If the color irregularity still
persists, place the speakers farther away from the
TV set.
Speakers
Sound comes from one channel, or
unbalanced left and right volume.
• Place the speakers as symmetrically as possible.
• Check that the speakers are connected securely
and correctly.
• Turn off the X-ROUND mode (page 52).
• Adjust the balance parameter (page 40).
There is no sound from the front speakers.
• Check the Multi Room setting (see "Listening to
the sound in another room" on page 53).

There is no sound from the surround
speakers.
• Set the surround speaker level to the appropriate
level (see "Adjusting the speaker volume and
level" on page 40).
• Make sure that the SURROUND setting is set to
"YES" (page 39).
• The software being played back has limited sound
effects. Check the volume with the test tone.
There is no sound from the center speaker.
• Set the center speaker level to the appropriate
level (see "Adjusting the speaker volume and
level" on page 40).
• Make sure that the CENTER setting is set to
"YES" (page 39).
• The software being played back has limited sound
effects. Check the volume with the test tone.
There is no sound from the sub woofer.
• No sound is produced from the sub woofer when
you play a DVD that does not have sub woofer
output recorded.
• Set the sub woofer level to the appropriate level
(see "Adjusting the speaker volume and level" on
page 40).
• Make sure that the SUBWOOFER setting is set to
"YES" (page 39).
• The software being played back has limited sound
effects. Check the volume with the test tone.
• Turn off the X-ROUND mode (page 52).
Sound lacks bass.
• Check that the speaker's + and – terminals are
connected correctly.
DVD/VIDEO CD/CD/MP3/JPEG
Player
The disc tray does not open and "LOCKED"
appears on the display.
• Contact your Sony dealer or local authorized Sony
service facility.
The disc tray does not close.
• Place the disc correctly.
• Always close the tray by pressing Z OPEN/
CLOSE on the unit. Do not forcibly push the disc
tray close as this may cause a malfunction.
