5.1 The Remote Supervisor Adapter

The x450 is equipped with a Remote Supervisor Adapter integrated into the
system. See Figure 5-1 for the location of the Remote Supervisor Adapter.

The features of the Remote Supervisor Adapter include the following:
Continuous health monitoring and control
Advanced Predictive Failure Analysis (PFA)
Configurable notification and alerts
Event logs that are time stamped, saved in nonvolatile memory, and can be
attached to e-mail alerts
Remote graphical console redirection
Remote access either via Ethernet, serial, or Advanced System Management
(ASM) interconnect connectivity
Point-to-point protocol (PPP) support
Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) support
Domain Name System (DNS) and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol
(DHCP) support
Remote power control
Remote firmware update and access to critical server settings
