Design
The multifunction camera consists of the three
main components:
• Camera
• Image recognition module
• Decision module
The multifunction camera evaluates the brightness,
shape, structure and, if necessary, the color and
movement of a detected object to ascertain
whether it is a preceding or oncoming vehicle, a
street lamp, a traffic sign or another part of the road
infrastructure. The image recognition module inte-
grated in the camera estimates the distances to
other road users, evaluates the brightness of the
vehicle's surroundings and recognizes extreme
weather conditions (thick fog, heavy snowfall) and
tunnels.
i Note
If the multifunction camera is removed or the
windshield is replaced, the camera must be cali-
brated using Xentry Diagnostics.
