10.Troubleshooting

Symptom
The remote control is not working.
The receiver displays a black screen or an
error message.
The picture is frozen / unclear.
The receiver cannot find any channels.
The TV set does not detect the receiver
when it leaves standby mode.
There is no sound in HOME CINEMA
mode on some channels.
Black and white video on VCR output
(during VCR/DVD recording).
A black screen (no video) appears at the
end of a recording.
For any other problem.
• Press the EXIT
• Point the remote control at the receiver.
• Check the battery life and check the batteries are inserted
properly.
• Search for programs (see Automatic Channel Scan,
page 39).
• Check all the connections, check the antenna and search
for programs again (see Automatic Channel Scan,
page 39).
• Check the cable connection.
• Check the cable signal reception (see TV Signal, page 60).
• Search for programs (see Automatic Channel Scan,
page 39).
• Contact your cable installer/operator for more information
on your cable installation and reception.
• Check that your TV set is connected to the TV SCART
socket (see Connection to a Standard-Definition
television using a SCART lead, page 14).
• If necessary, select the SCART input directly on your TV
set.
• Check that the receiver is connected to a HOME CINEMA
amplifier through the optical SPDIF connection (see
Connection to a home cinema amplifier, page 16).
• Check that the signal type chosen for VCR Scart output is
compatible with your VCR (see Picture Settings,
page 43).
• When a recording ends on a program which does not
transmit any interpretable recording video signal (Teletext
feature, fixed image, switch from unscrambled to
scrambled transmission, broadcast with video placeholder,
etc.), the video recording stops but the time counter
continues until the end of the scheduled recording time.
• Perform a default factory reset (see Factory Reset,
page 40).
