Procedure: Firmware Upgrade

This section describes how to upgrade the printer firmware using the FLDFU program. A pre-requisite to
this procedure is completion of the program and driver installation as described in FLDFU and Driver
Installation (First Time) on page 22.
1. (If in a game) Connect the printer to the PC or laptop using the cable USB connector.
(If out of a game) Also use the RS232 Evaluation Cable and Power Supply.
2. Start the FLDFU program.
3. The GEN3 Evolution printer appears in the Device List area. The device(s) shown in this area depend on
the firmware type.
4. If there is an entry in this list, there is communication with the printer. If the list contains no device,
check the printer power and refer to Procedure: Driver Installation (First-time Use Only) on page 23.
5. Click Select Firmware and browse to location of the firmware file to load.
These can be in either .DFU or .SHA format.
Note:
Firmware files with a .BIN extension may be renamed or saved as .SHA.
