Problem
a) Field of view of one eye does not
match that of the other.
5. Stage
a) Image shifts when you touch stage. Stage is not properly mounted.
b) Specimen stops midway on the X-
axis traverse.
c) X- and Y-axis knobs are too tight
or too loose.
d) Stroke has reduced.
6. Marker
a) Marking is impossible.
b) Slide glass detaches when mark-
ing is executed.
c) Marker pen life is short.

Cause
Your view is not accustomed to micro-
scope observation.
Specimen is not correctly positioned.
Tension of X- and Y-axis knobs is too high
or too low.
Stage guide is deviated.
Pen has run out of ink.
Incorrect stroke adjustment.
Pen tip is dry.
Incorrect stroke adjustment.
Pen tip is dry.
Remedy
Upon looking into eyepieces, try look-
ing at overall field before concentrat-
ing on specimen range. You may also
find it helpful to look up and into dis-
tance for a moment before looking
back into microscope.
Clamp stage.
Place specimen correctly.
Adjust tension.
Correct deviation as described in treat-
ment on page 12.
Replace pen with a new one.
Re-adjust stroke.
Wipe pen tip with a piece of tissue
paper and try writing.
Re-adjust stroke.
Cap pen tip after each use.
